Notes after the long program.

There was no change in the order of the top four ladies in the novice event.   Deanna Stellato was strong and mature winning the ladies title.  She again landed her triple Lutz as well as triple Salchow and two triple toe loops, one in combination with a double toe loop.  She was also the strongest and most mature skater of the day's events and is ready now to move up to juniors.

The second and third place ladies skate well with Andrey Rose Chua landing triple Salchow and triple toe loop, while Beatrisa Liang landed her triple Salchow but missed on triple toe loop.  These two skaters both have tremendous potential but are still not yet mature enough to move up to juniors, being just 10 and 11 years old, and still fairly petite.  A fine job was also done by Midori Williams who also has the triple Salchow, but did not attempt a triple toe loop.

Notes after the short program.

Despite a style a little bit on the rough side, Deanna Stellato powered herself to a nearly unanimous victory in the short program on the strength of a clean triple flutz - double toe loop and a strong double Axel.  After first place there was more diversity of opinion, with second and third place extremely close.  Andrey Rose Chua and Beatrisa Liang both skated strong fast program with nearly identical content.  Both had strong double Axels and landed triple Salchow - double toe loop combinations.   For their spins Chua used a flying camel and a camel - half-Biellmann - back-sit combination while Liang did a fine layback spin and a camel - sit - layback - back-sit - reverse-upright spin combination.
