Notes:

Despite all the fuss over changes to the dance rules, it look like little will be changing in terms of "stable" placements in dance results.  Of the top three couples, the dance of Lobacheva & Averbukh was the most waltz-like in its look and the most enjoyable to watch.  Below the top three, the quality was noticeable inferior.  The only changes in the placements were the Canadian and American team, both of whom had a significant fall near the end of their programs.   In the case of Lefebvre & Brunet, Brunet appeared to momentarily lose his balance and then a few moments later Lefebvre went down, but was quickly again up on her feet.  From the marks it appeared that most of the judges took a deduction for the fall, but not the Canadian judge who also gave them the highest mark from the panel.   For Lang & Tchernyshev, Tchernyshev fell during a separation while making a series of quick circular turns.  Twisted up in his legs he flopped around on the ice while Lang skated away and then had to pause for him to catch up.  Except for these two teams, no other changes in the placements occurred between the CD and the OD.

Notes:

Anissina & Peizerat introduced a spectacular new free dance to music from the film "The Man in the Iron Mask".  In this program Anissina again lifts Peizerat in a long glide down the center of the ice.  This routine was head and shoulders above the rest and should be good enough to make Bourne and Kraatz sweat.  Lobacheva & Averbukh displayed nice technique in a new program to traditional violin folk music, but the choreography was mundane at best.  Filling out the third medal spot were Fusar-Poli & Margaglio.  Their routine this year is to music from the film "Bram Stoker's Dracula".  Technically less difficult than the top two teams here, it had them both beat by choreographically pinning the bizarre meter.  From the violet and purple costumes with shrouds and bat wings to the makeup pallor and bite marks it was way over the top.

Both Lang & Tchernyshev and Lefebvre & Brunet did 4 minute long tangos with the American team coming out on top.  Except for the falls in the OD that forced a flip-flop of these two teams after the OD, none of the other dance dance teams changed places during this event.  The second American team of Chalom & Gates skated a classical, somber number to mucus from Mozart (Symphony #25 and Requiem).   "Borrowing" a page from Anissina & Peizerat their program also include a lift in which Chalom lifts Gates.
