Order of Finish for Events with Multiple Parts

In the current 6.0 system, the parts of an event are combined by taking the placements in each part, multiplying by a weighting factor for each part of the event and adding the factored places to get the Total Factored Place.

In this proposal the order of finish in each part of an event is determined by the total marks for that part of the event.  The final result is obtained by taking the total mark for each part, multiplying by a weighting factor for each part of the event and adding the factored marks to get the total event score.

For example, for singles with a short program and long program, the total event mark would be the sum of one half the short program score plus the long program score.

Short Program Total Mark Long Program Total Mark Total Event Score
Skater A 11.4 11.6 17.30
Skater B 11.1 11.2 16.75

In this proposal the weights for each part of an event would remain the same as they are currently defined in the rulebook.
