Following amateur career, Boitano dominated professional competitions, winning five
consecutive World Professional Champion titles and four consecutive
Challenge of Champions titles.
Starred in Carmen on Ice with Katarina Witt
and Brian Orser, and won an Emmy Award.
Successfully lobbied the ISU to allow professional
skaters to reinstate, and returned to competitive national and ISU skating. Won the
silver medal at U.S. Nationals in 1994, and finished sixth at the 1994
Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway.
Inducted in the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame and
World Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 1996.
Became a popular cult figure due to a recurring
cameo caricature in the TV show South Park, where Brian Boitano is a
"superhero" and an inspiration to the main characters through
the song "What Would Brian Boitano Do?"
Appeared in cameo roles in Blades of Glory
and Ice Princess.
Currently hosts a show on Food Network, called What
Would Brian Boitano Make?
